WHAT DOES THE CONTRACT COVER?

• These contracts provide legal advice and covers the fees charged by an attorney in the representation of civil, criminal and labour related matters up to the amount listed on the policy schedule.
• The contracts have a 3-month waiting period. Only matters arising after the waiting period will be considered for cover.
• Professional legal advice is available after payment of your first payment, even on excluded matters or matters arising in the waiting period.
• The contract holder must be an active member of a contract for a minimum of 6 consecutive months to qualify for a downgrade in your package and a reduced payments should the need arise.
• All fees charged by an attorney are covered on claims that are accepted and approved by The Legal Well, for an attorney on The Legal Wells panel, appointed by The Legal Well, for as long as the claim lies within the terms and conditions of the contract.
• We offer plans that cover for yourself only, or family plans that can include cover for your spouse, and up to three children under the age of 18.
• The Legal Well will provide cover for your children up to the age of 18, but if they are full time students, attending a registered tertiary institution they may remain on your contract up to the age of 21.
• Any Extended family members can be covered, but may require an additional premium.
• The Bail Benefit is automatically included on your contract at no additional cost. We will pay up to the amount stipulated in the package you have chosen on your behalf for bail if the contract holder is arrested for a minor crime.
• Your Legal Cover is dependent on the continuous payment of your monthly payments, when they are due. If a payment is missed, you will not be covered and or qualify for any benefits until your policy payments are free of all arrears.
• Each policy will be subjected to an annual payments increase up to a maximum of 10% which will be automatically added to the payment unless otherwise instructed by the Director of The Legal Well.
• Should you be retrenched, the Retrenchment Benefit will allow you to miss up three consecutive payments without the waiting period or cover being affected (subject to the contract’s terms and conditions)
• The contracts must be active for a minimum of 24 months before the contract can be cancelled.
• A minimum of 30 days’ notice must be given telephonically and/or in writing for all cancellations.
• All cancellations must be done telephonically or via email and The legal well team must be made aware of such cancellation.
• There are certain types of legal matters that are not covered, like business matters (On a personal package), Personal Matters (On a business package) as well as pre-existing matters (any matter that arose before taking out the contract).
